The family of laser-guided woodworking tools just gained a couple of new siblings. Skil Power Tools has introduced a handheld circular saw, the Skilsaw 5750, and a jigsaw, model 4680-04, and both have forward facing lasers to enhance their accuracy. Anyone who has used one of the various laser-aided woodworking tools on the market knows what a great upgrade they are to traditional tools. And now they are entering the consumer market at a remarkably affordable price. Both the Skilsaw and the jigsaw have a manufacturer’s suggested price of $79.00. Laser accuracy for under $100.00 — seems to be a real steal to me. And these are significant tools in all regards. The 5750 has a 2.5 HP motor and ball-bearing construction & as well as Skilsaw’s storied history. The jigsaw has a 5 amp motor, ergonomic handle design and 360° blade rotation for scroll cuts.
While I have not put my hands on these tools as of yet (They are so new that I’m sure this is the first report the public has seen on them), I have every confidence that they are of the typical quality that Skil is known for. You can find them on the market right now at the big box stores. For more information and a look at the entire line of Skil products go to www.SKIL.com.
