How and when should you do wet sanding?
Michael Dresdner: The purpose of wet sanding is to enable you to sand finishes with very fine paper without it clogging up. The water or solvent floats off the swarf and reduces friction. You need to do it only if you are using fine paper that is not self lubricating (stearated). These days, there are stearated papers up in to the very fine grits, making wet sanding less and less common or necessary.
