Stain vs. Nature
This is something that I have been meaning to get off my chest for a while now. I am not a stained wood dude. I know that tons of woodworkers love to adjust the hue of their wood projects with all variety of stains and dyes — and I say, “Bless their hearts.” But for me, if I want something to look like walnut, I tend to use, you know … walnut. If I want a golden oak look — I think you know where I am going with this.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I understand that I am the one who is out of step here. Minwax is doing just fine without me, thank you. But I wonder, how alone am I? Is this polychrome-phobia a singular affliction, or am I one among many? In some ways I fear the answer, but on the other hand, the truth will set you free. (To stain, or not to stain?)
So that is my question, and I am looking to the eZine faithful to once again provide clarity to my muddled world.
