I need some instructions on how to construct glass-paneled doors for a china cabinet I am attempting to build. I ordered bits for cutting rail and stile for glass doors and mullions. My problem is I don’t know how to use these tools. Can you assist me on how to construct these china cabinet doors? I enjoy reading the Woodworker’s Journal. It contains a lot of useful information. – John Brubaker
Rob Johnstone: The Woodworker’s Journal YouTube channel has a good video made by Bill Hylton about this topic. While it is not an exhaustive video, it will get you started down the right path. Here is a link to it.
Chris Marshall: Bill Hylton also has written an excellent primer on the general topic of routing called “Woodworking with the Router,” which covers the use of rail and stile joinery for making cabinet doors. It would be a good addition to your woodworking library. Trying to explain the details of that technique in an abbreviated fashion here just wouldn’t do it justice. It’s not difficult, but it is involved.
