Trend’s new Adjustable Lock Jig should make it easier for contractors and serious DIYers to rout mortises for door locks quickly and easily. Built for jobsite durability, the clamp-on style jig is made of 1/2-in.-thick laminate with sliding inserts that can be adjusted to suit different lock mortise sizes. It can accommodate lock plate faces up to 10-in. long, and it has engraved site lines for both 7/8- and 1-in. face plate widths, plus 5/8- and 3/4-in. mortise widths. The bottom of the jig is engraved for registering it to the following popular door thicknesses: 1-3/8-, 1-3/4-, 2- and 2-1/8-in. It will work on doors ranging from 1.18-in. (30mm) up to 3.15-in. (80mm) thick.
The Adjustable Lock Jig (item LOCK/JIG/B) comes with a pair of pre-set width setting gauges, adjustable setting bar, a long-reach 1/2-in. shank 15/32-in.-dia. router bit and a 30mm router guide bushing that fits standard 1-3/16-in. router base openings. The jig kit is available now through authorized Trend distributors for $149.95.
