Are there any temperature restrictions when fuming oak?
Michael Dresdner:Â Varying the temperature when fuming changes both the rate at which the color change occurs and the resulting color. Warmer temperatures tend to yield warmer browns, while colder ones result in greener tones. While there are no absolute limits on temperature, I feel the best results, both in terms of time and color, come at around 80 degrees F.
