Took a while but I got the stair rail designed and built. Although not exactly furniture, it uses furniture construction techniques. All the slats are resawn from 3/4 inch oak. The post are made from laminating 5 pieces of 3/4 inch oak. All the rails are attached to the post with mortise and tenon joints and are pegged. The peg holes were squared up and capped with small square plugs of wenge. The newel post are attached to the floor using two pocket joints on each side and then plugged. Now it’s on to new oak stair treads!
After the stair rail, it was time to build a monster truck for the grandson and finish my wife’s book case/cabinet.
