I thought you might like to see my version of the southwestern entry bench (Woodworker’s Journal Dec 2008). I didn’t have access to any mesquite, but I did have some 2” and 1” rough cut 100 year old bard boards. I have a great appreciation for the workmanship of Frank Grant. Hand chiseling nearly 50 mortises, when 1/32 of an inch off would not allow things to fit, was quite a feat!
My version is not nearly as rustic or quite as rugged, but it was a challenging and fun project for an amateur woodworker. Thanks for the plan. It was necessary to adjust the size to fit the materials I had.
