Side-Rabbet Planes and Chamfer Planes

Side-Rabbet Planes and Chamfer Planes

In this episode of the Hand Plane Video Series, Ernie Conover introduces you to side-rabbet planes and chamfer planes. These two interesting planes are designed to accomplish specific tasks. The side rabbet plane is designed to cut the sides of a groove to fit a panel. In this video Ernie shows you a pair of Stanley No. 98 and No. 99 side rabbet planes. The chamfer plane straddles the corner of a board to cut a precise chamfer. He demonstrates with a very rare Stanley No. 72 chamfer plane.
