Recently, I was told that once I uncoil a band saw blade I should not recoil it to store it? Is this true?

John Brock: Horsefeathers! Keep them coiled and covered to keep them clean and undamaged. My guess is you ran into somebody that didn’t know how to safely and easily coil one.
Richard Jones: I’ve never heard that one. I’ve been coiling and uncoiling band saw blades for 30-odd years now and never noticed a problem.
