A support stand next to your miter saw, or an outfeed roller behind the table saw, is helpful whenever you’re trying to manage long stock. But, when these devices can serve double-duty as clamping stands, it’s versatility you’d never expect from a typical roller stand. That’s where Rockwell’s new JawStand™ sets itself apart from other options: it’s designed to suit both types of applications. This accessory has a folding tripod base with non-marring, non-slip rubber feet. Its center, tubular column can be adjusted vertically from 25 to 41 inches by loosening a locking knob and sliding it up or down in the base. A scale on the tube indicates the specific height of the stand’s top work surfaces.
The JawStand features a clamping head with a rubber coating inside the jaws. They open up to 1-3/4 inches, convenient for holding anything from doors or lumber to sheet stock while you work. The head pivots from 0 to 90 degrees, and you can find the specific angle you need using an on-board protractor. The head also rotates 360 degrees. A built-in bubble level facilitates leveling operations, such as supporting a cabinet from underneath when hanging it on a wall. Rockwell says the JawStand is capable of supporting up to 220 lbs., thanks to a stable base and hardened-steel construction.
Or, raise the clamp head to use the top surface as side or outfeed support for your shop machinery. Two low-friction surfaces on top allow workpieces to slide over them easily and, unlike a conventional stand with rollers, they won’t cause your workpiece to drift to the side as you push it along.
