The Woodworker’s Journal shop has had a TS2400LS knocking around for a while now. It is not our only table saw. We actually have several – from cabinet saws with big extension tables built around them to contractor saws with fancy after market fences and gizmo laden router table additions & we’ve got a nice selection to choose from. But a saw that gets a bunch of use (and to be honest abuse) is the handy and very mobile RIDGID TS2400LS.
With its Work-N-Haul cart and 25″ rip capacity this tool has become a favorite of WJ’s woodworking regulars. It is sturdy, accurate and easy to move around the shop. Those details create a convenience factor that is hard to beat. And while it would not be my choice for ripping tons of 6/4 hardwood, it is just the ticket for ripping a clean edge on a small part, mitering the corner of a piece of molding or rough-cutting a few piece of stock before planning. Its onboard storage for all of its accessories simply adds to its handiness quotient.
The trade off between what you get with a bench top tool compared to a stationary tool is an evaluation that all of us need to make from time to time. (And one that will be addressed in an article by Sandor Nagyszalanczy in the July/August issue of Woodworker’s Journal.) But I can say that this is one small table saw that does big work.
