Old Tool: Lead Paint?

I’m restoring a 1950’s Craftsman 4″ Jointer and wonder if tools from this era were painted with leaded paint.

Michael Dresdner: Yes, some were, and depending on the color, yours might have lead-based paint on it. Fortunately, you can match the color exactly with today’s lead-free pigments without resorting to lead based paint.
