Two screws hold each jaw securely in the chuck. When tightened for a contracting grip, the two jaws will also hold rounds from under 1/2-in. to over 3/4-in. Then, use a drill bit chucked in the tail stock to bore a perfectly centered hole. Alternately, you can tighten the jaws in expanding mode to hold rounds with inside diameters ranging from 1.37- to more than 2.5-in. This way, the jaws can also accommodate larger spigot work, lidded boxes, square finials, pepper mills and much more.
