Hitachi has been an interesting toolmaker for a while now. When they decided to make a tool, it was always a great product. Their nail guns or miter saws & simply top-notch. But they did not seem too interested in developing new tools at the rate that other companies were doing so. A new offering from Hitachi was always a welcome surprise. And so it is with their new KM12VC router combination kit.
A quick look at their great new “aggressive ergonomic” styling on the router will tell you that Hitachi is not only going for quality on the inside & but a cool new look on the outside. This fixed base / plunge router system features a 2-1/4 HP motor that is remarkably quiet as well as powerful (Hitachi reports an 80 dB level), accepting a 1/2″ or 1/4″ collet and a remarkable number of accessories (chip shield, rub collars, etc.) in its carrying case.
Look for it on sale later this fall in all the regular places.
