Here is a wine cabinet I made for our school’s primary fundraiser: The Laughing Cavalier. The case is Tiger maple, with doors and back of maple burl veneer. The case is edged with ebony. The drawer front and wine bottle supports are spalted maple burl with a little leather treatment to match the doors and drawer handles. I used stainless steel standoffs to raise the glass above the inset wine corks patterned for the top. The legs are ebonized maple caped with matching spalted burl. Each leg is attached to the case with stainless steel rods. All components were finished with shellac and rubbed out with rottenstone. Didn’t keep track of the hours it took, but believe me – there were many a night and weekend spent in both the planning and production stages.
