General International recently unveiled its new Deluxe 14″ Wood Cutting Bandsaw (Model 90-170 M1), which includes a number of features geared toward heavy-duty resawing tasks. The 1 1/2hp machine has a one-piece steel frame that is designed for added stability. The frame is sized to enable resawing up 12,” and its maximum cutting width is 13 3/4″. Upper and lower blade guides are ball-bearing style to ensure smooth, consistent blade tracking. General outfits the saw with an Excalibur Universal Rip Fence System, plus a curved resaw guide block.
A quick-release blade tensioner should help to speed up the blade changing process, and you can outfit the machine with 112″-long blades up to 3/4″ wide; one 3/4″ blade is included. The saw has a 16″ x 20″ cast-iron table and dynamically balanced cast-iron wheels with replaceable tires. Two blade speeds provide efficient cutting in either hard or soft woods. You also get dual 4″ dust ports to improve dust collection efficiency: one located at the bottom blade guide and a second near the machine’s base. General International is offering the 90-170 M1 for an introductory promotional retail price of $1259.99. Eventually, its street price will increase to $1855.
