What type of wood is most durable for a cutting board?
Carol Reed: I’d choose a closed cell wood, maple and cherry being two of my favorites.
Michael Dresdner: My two favorites are hard maple and white oak.
Richard Jones: Rock maple, European sycamore and beech are popular because they are hard, look clean, are close grained and durable. How long they last is rather dependent on how hard they are used, of course.
John Brock: My preference is for hard maple.
