After having tilted my floor standing drill press table, I used to have a problem getting back to perpendicular to the spindle. Not any more! I took a piece of copper wire cut to about eight inches in length. Strip the two ends about an inch and bend the wire into a form that resembles a “Z”. Place one end into the chuck and hand tighten it. Raise the table to place the loose end of the wire close to the table surface and rotate the chuck by hand. The wire will swing a circular orbit that is perpendicular to the spindle. Adjust the table to make the wire swing a path which is even from the table all the way around.
