By summer, DeWALT’s familiar yellow will become a new color option when shopping for contractor-grade hand tools. Earlier this month, the company unveiled several new tools, including a 15-ounce Framing Hammer, 25-ft. Short Tape, a Power Tool Case with Tote, Folding Retractable Utility Knife and several Heavy-duty Adjustable Wrenches that kick off a new line of DeWALT hand tools. More than 100 tool options are expected as the product line unfolds. Among the first group of tools that will be available from The Home Depot and independent distributors in June, here are some highlights: the Framing Hammer (DWHT51138; $59.99) is the world’s first 15-ounce, all-steel MIG weld that touts a lightweight design to help minimize arm fatigue without compromising strength. The 25-ft. Short Tape (DWHT33385; $24.99) features a specially designed 3M Thermoplastic film applied to the first six inches for improved strength, as well as a durable casing, rubber slide lock, larger hook end and 13 ft. of standout length. The Power Tool Case with Tote (DWST24070; $25) provides storage space for portable power tools, hand tools, bits and fasteners to help eliminate the need for multiple tool bags. A Folding Retractable Utility Knife (DWHT10035; $9.99) and six adjustable wrenches in 6-, 8-, 10- 12- and 15-in. sizes (prices to range from $10.99 to $34.99) round out the initial tool group. DeWALT’s new hand tools will come with a limited lifetime warranty and, according to DeWALT sources, are intended to “live up to even the toughest standards” of people who earn their living using hand tools every day.
