I saw this in your October 2013 issue and had to build it. The table is red oak with a Watco medium walnut, oil finish protected by a paste furniture wax. I was all set to shop make the spring, but got lucky and found quarter inch thick red oak at my local box store. The metal hold downs on the spring are half inch flat bar, also from the box store. I could not find heavy enough hinges locally. These are from Rockler and work very well. This project worked great as a side table during Christmas dinner! I am working on the templates for the “Officer’s Chair” featured in another issue of the Journal.
