This is a jewelry box I made for my wife for our 16 year anniversary. It is made of solid cherry from the panels of two raised panel cabinet doors that I saved from the trash at a local cabinet shop. To make the back, I cut 2″ strips rather than buying cherry plywood. The hardware came from an old jewelry box that I picked up at a yard sale for $3. I chose not to stain it, so I just used clear laquer, I don’t like to cover up the beauty of the wood when it is this naturally eye-pleasing. If you know where to look there is beautiful wood all around us being thrown away every day. Or at least very cheap.
