The question I asked last ‘Zine was: is there a significant difference between male and female woodworkers? Several e-mail missives responding to my query were very direct, saying, in essence: “I am a woodworker because I like to create things from wood. It has nothing to do with the fact that I am a woman.”
Indeed, if there was a common thread in the responses I received (check out some of them on the Readers Response page), it was how quickly the letters turned from gender specific comments to general observations about the wonderful nature of woodworking.
If you’d like to see how true that sentiment is among women who work with wood, you can visit our sister site (no pun intended) Women in Woodworking. It’s a web site developed just for women who love woodworking. I was scanning their forum last night and was reminded that woodworkers — whether they’re men, women, or children — simply love to build stuff.
