In an effort to improve the power and run-time capabilities of its 18-volt Lithium-ion FatPack™ batteries, Bosch has recently unveiled a 5 amp-hour (Ah) version. According to Bosch, it’s the lightest, most compact and longest run-time FatPack-style battery on the market, and it’s hitting Bosch retailers this month.
The new BAT621 5.0 Ah FatPack battery is especially designed for tools such as rotary hammers, impact drivers and reciprocating saws on which pro users depend every day. It contains state-of-the-art high capacity and low resistance lithium-ion cells that exceed the overall output of current 4.0 Ah batteries by as much as 25 percent. It also features Bosch’s CoolPack™ heat conductive housing, designed to help keep the internal cells cooler during use. Bosch reports that CoolPack can help extend the recharge life of the battery by up to 100 percent over similar batteries without this feature.
Yet, despite the increased amp-hour capacity of the BAT621, it maintains an identical size and weight footprint of previous Bosch 4.0 and 3.0 Ah batteries. It also comes with a fuel gauge that provides instant evaluation of how much charge is left. The new BAT621 5Ah FatPack battery has a retail price of $129, and it’s compatible with Bosch’s full line of 18-volt lithium-ion powered tools.
