If you’ve ever wondered which orbital setting on a jigsaw is best for your particular cutting task, Black+Decker hopes to make that decision easy on its new BDEJS600C Jigsaw. Rather than only designate a series of numbers to distinguish different degrees of orbital action, as is common on other jigsaws, this tool features a CurveControl™ dial on the side that shows which kinds of cuts are best made with which orbital setting — from straight-line cuts through increasingly tight curve cuts. Twisting the dial to four settings adjusts the orbital aggressiveness to suit the cut.
Other user-friendly features on this 5.0-amp saw include an overmolded grip for improved handling and comfort, tool-free blade changing and a base that tilts up to 45 degrees for bevel-cutting. There’s also a wire guard around the blade area instead of a plastic shroud for better visibility to the cutting line and a dust blower to clear debris. It cuts at a rate of 3,000 strokes per minute at a stroke length of 3/4-in. The company hopes this tool will exemplify its commitment to making products that are honest, intuitive, involved and thoughtful.
