I would like to ask for some advice on what type of wood you would recommend for painted wooden signs (like this one). I don’t have any training and only know the basics about wood. I live in Cyprus and have looked for classes, but nothing is available. – Kia
Rob Johnstone: If the signs are going to be inside, then the species really does not matter to a great degree. You can select the wood with criteria such as price, availability and how easy it is to carve. If it is going to be outside, then the wood should be one that holds up well to the weather. But here I must stop and say that I know little of what sort of wood is common to Cyprus. Go talk to a local woodworker, and I think they will be happy to give you advice — we woodworkers are known as generally helpful.
