Makita has added a 10” Slide Compound Miter Saw (model LS1018) to its lineup. The LS1018 is powered by a direct drive 13-amp motor with soft start; Makita says this provides constant power with no belts to slip or replace. The LS1018 has a linear ball bearing system that delivers 12” crosscutting capacity at 90 degrees and 8-1/2 inches of crosscutting capacity at 45 degrees. The saw miters 0 to 47 degrees left and 0 to 60 degrees right, with positive stops at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6 and 45 degrees both left and right. It has a no-load speed of 4,300 rpm and weighs 43.7 pounds. Suggested retail pricing for the LS1018 is $399.
