Glitz and glamour is usually not part of a woodworking editor’s life — except for once a year, when the members of the MMPA (Minnesota Magazine and Publishing Association) gather for the annual Excellence Awards. Each year, in early November, we get duded up and go out on the town — and, we are proud to say, bring back some awards.
This year, Woodworker’s Journal brought home prizes in five categories: How-To Article (for “Make Your Own Screen Door” by Frank Grant in the August 2010 issue); Technical Article (for “Finish On Your Shelf: Use It Or Lose It” by Michael Dresdner in the April 2011 issue; Profile Article for “Rob Jones: Carving From Lobsters to Bugles — That Play” by Joanna Werch Takes in Woodworker’s Journal eZine 277; Digital Media: e_Newsletter for the Woodworker’s Journal eZine; and Overall Excellence for Woodworker’s Journal.
Overall, we’re quite pleased.
And, while this awards ceremony does not have acceptance speeches, we would just like to say, to all of our loyal readers who help make it possible for us to do what we do: thank you.
