Metabo’s new BST18 Plus cordless drill/driver acts on impulse – or, more precisely, on a patented “Impuls” technology. The bit on the 18-volt drill/driver can find and home in on a point of resistance during an interval between pulses in the impulse action. What does this mean for you? An easier time of it when you want to loosen extremely tight screws, or when you have to drive or remove screws with damaged heads. The impulse action also prevents the bit from “walking.”
The BST18 Plus has a 1-3/16″ capacity in softwood, and its three-stage planetary gearing system with metal gears generates extremely high working torque. Twenty adjustable torque settings range from 246 to 528 inch-pounds.
You can change the bits and accessories with one hand due to the quick action keyless chuck and spindle stop system, which has a chuck capacity of 1/2″. No load speeds on the variable speed tool are 0-450 and 0-1,650 rpm.
Two 18-volt batteries come with the tool. The way the batteries attach to the T-handle on the drill/driver is designed to create a good balance for the 4.7 pounds you’ll be toting around. (When you’re done using the BST18, you can tote it in the carrying case it comes with.)
