In a case of “better late than never” my wife and I made this bed frame as a wedding gift for my daughter and her husband. I missed the wedding day deadline, so we purchased another gift and set the project aside.
Seven years later, I finally got back to it. Designed for my daughter’s eclectic tastes, it combines the warmth of Mahogany with the asian feel of bamboo and the colors she loves combined in a basket weave style.
The construction was fairly straight forward except for the need to size each bamboo hole separately. Creating the fabric weave was definitely the most time consuming element. The ends of each piece were fitted with a braided chord and fastened with a crimped copper sleeve. We were relieved when told that this one-off queen sized bed was worth the wait.
