I recently finished a small, custom-designed cherry media cabinet for our company’s board room. It’s intent is to house a Bluray disc player and internet TV components. I found an old AutoCAD design on the web and modified it to fit this specific space. I added about 1-1/2″ to the height, 10″ to the width and 2″ to the depth. I deleted the drawer and added plexiglas doors and full-extension shelves. The case is made from 3/4″ cherry plywood. The face frame, doors, base and trim are from cherry hardwood. I added a maple edge to the cherry ply top and gave it two coats of poly over a coat of 50/50 Zinsser sealer and denatured alcohol wash. I spent about 50 hours on it all together.
