I have always wanted to make a fully carved rocking horse and with the arrival of my first granddaughter two years ago (14 years after the last gandson), I decided that it was time to tackle the project. It took about three months from start to finish and included all the woodwork, making all the tack including the stirrups as I could not get any small ones locally. The body was made from Jelutong with the legs being of beech and the stand in pine. The completed horse was given several coats of gesso and then hand painted and sprayed with water based enamels.
