I do a lot of laminating, which involves gluing up very thin stock – 1/64″ or less. My planer can’t handle that, so I made an auxiliary table from 1/4″ tempered hardboard, smooth side up. A strip of wood, glued to the underside of the hardboard at a right angle, prevents it from being dragged in through the planer. It’s better not to use wax as a lubricant because that could interfere with the glue bond. As a bonus, I found that this technique also helps eliminate sniping.
