If you’ve ever wished you had a compact, cordless circular saw for cutting sheet goods down to size in the home center parking lot – or to use for a variety of home improvement projects – Makita’s new LCT208W Combo Kit may have the saw you need. This 12-volt Lithium-Ion kit actually includes two tools: a 3 3/8-in.-diameter Circular Saw (model SH01W) and a 3/8-in. Driver-Drill (model FD02W). The 3.3-lb. saw comes with a 20-tooth carbide-tipped blade, which allows it to cut sheet materials or lumber up to 1 in. thick at 90 degrees or 5/8 in. when tilted to 45 degrees. The tool features a pistol-grip style overmolded handle, similar to a drill. A built-in blower will help to clear the cutting area of saw dust. Makita reports that the saw will make 70 crosscuts in 1/2-in.-thick x 12-in.-wide plywood on a single battery charge.
Makita’s drill/driver packs 200 in.-lbs. of maximum torque into a similarly compact tool that weighs a tad over 2 lbs. It has two speed ranges (0-350 and 0-1,300 RPM), plus an 18-position adjustable clutch to satisfy a wide range of drilling and driving applications. A keyless three-jaw chuck and LED worklight are two more user-friendly features included here.
The LCT208W Combo Kit also comes with a battery charger, two 12-volt batteries, a tool holster and a contractor’s bag to store it all. The kit is available now through Makita distributors and online for around.
