It’s a little keepsake box I made for a friend. The body of the box is hard maple. The hardwood keys in the corners are padauk. The top is made from an unknown species of exotic wood. I had one small piece of this beautiful material and I resawed it into nine pieces and tiled them onto a thin substrate. The top is hinged using reclaimed antique brass hinges from an old hardware store out in the middle of Kansas. It was well received.
