A friend of mine was retiring after 30 years in the Navy and he asked me to build him a shadowbox. After discussing a few of the details, I remembered your blanket chest project from the April ’10 issue and showed it to him. He liked the idea and decided to have me build that style of box for him. I chose ash and quartersawn sapele for the project and went with a true breadboard ended lid rather than the one from the project plan. This box got huge response at his ceremony and I wanted to thank your magazine for the inspiration and share with you the final project.
